Sunshine Day!

After too many weeks of windy small craft advisory weather Bravo Team was back on the water today. Yay!

We loaded our gear in the Bosun’s locker and headed down to the boat. Because it had been a while, Captain So-so reminded us of a few important safety items before we got on board: moving slowly and with nothing in our hands, announcing our movements about the boat, passing gear in a “fire line” style, and keeping our hands out of the crunch zone.

After loading the boat, our Coxswain Luca took us off the dock.  We were all smiles as we felt the heft and pull of the oars in our backs.

Underway, we set our foresail and mizzen but the light wind was no match for the current. We sailed, snacked, and had a moment of silence in the glorious sun.

Too soon it was time for us to return to the harbor. We dropped Daqas off at the pump out dock, which was an opportunity to practice some maneuvering skills. As we came to our slip, a young harbor seal popped its head up right next to our boat. Amazing!

At the end of the day we spent some time coming up with a list of possible environmental projects. We’ve been studying environmental issues for the past few weeks are ready to vote on our environmental service project for next week. Stay tuned– we’ll let you know what we decide!

At the end of the day we shared our favorite moments– most of us agreed that the warm sunshine and being outside was a gift. We also really enjoyed laughing with each other, seeing the harbor seal, and sharing kindness and good morale with each other. Aaaahhhh.
