Bravo Team has been working diligently to prepare for the upcoming overnight journey on May 6-7. We started the day by reviewing the tenet “Boat, Crew, Self” as a way of framing the journey. We’ll need to always take care of the boat and keep it safe, so we have a boat to journey on. We need to keep our crew happy and taken care of as a group so we have the stamina and morale to move the boat and do the jobs necessary on a trip. We then take care of our personal needs, once we make sure there are not more pressing needs with the boat and the crew.

We picked out our menu for the trip and went through the packing list of what gear they need to bring. Burritos, bagels and salami are a sampling of the boat fare for the journey. Then we were ready to get out on the water and work on our sailing skills. It was a beautiful spring afternoon with a northwest wind of 10-15 knots. We reefed the sails at the dock and headed out on to the bay. It was great to get some more sailing time in to review the steps of tacking/gybing and handling sheets. It was an active sailing day!

The crew is so kind to each other. They really help each other out by sharing knowledge and supporting each other. The journey is going to be great with this crew! Next week we’ll be getting the gear ready for the trip!
