Service Projects and Sunshine

Today Bravo team started off the day with a focus on developing our environmental service project. We worked in small groups to brainstorm projects that could address four areas we are concerned about: deforestation, ocean acidification, orca populations, and plastics in the ocean.

The framework for SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time bound) helped us determine the scope of our proposals and how they fit with our class. Then we came up with four great ideas and we will decide next week. Stay tuned!

After an hour, we transitioned to heading outside to enjoy the sunny day. We rowed down the waterfront and stopped for a snack and moment of silence just past the ferry dock. Too soon, we had to head back to the dock. Power strokes and shanties helped us row up wind and make it back to our destination.

Our ending reflection focused on what we enjoyed about our day. Memories included: seeing seals, otters and other wildlife, being in the sun, not being too cold, having patience with each other, having fun and laughing, and rowing.
