Bravo Team: hosting an adventure!

Bravo team ended their year together with a one day journey from Point Hudson to Rat Island (about a mile across the bay). We were excited to spend the day together and use all of the skills we had learned over the year to have a day of adventure.

We spent several weeks leading up to the journey day planning: Where could we go? How fast do we travel? What are the tides and currents doing? and most importantly What will we eat? After reviewing the forecast in the days before we left, we determined that Rat Island fit our needs. It is a place that is only accessible by foot on very low tides and it allowed us to come ashore using our clothesline anchoring skills.

After packing all of the gear and provisions we rowed across the bay under drizzly clouds, enjoying the calm smooth waters. We anchored off of the island and had to hop off the bow, splashing our feet in the cold water. Lunch time was a feast of delicious sandwiches and special treats.

All too soon it was time to leave. We had a light wind and were able to sail off of the anchor, setting all three sails. The wind died about 1/3 of the way across the bay and we were back to our oars.

When we returned to Point Hudson it was hard to believe that we had spent 7 hours together. Time seemed to fly by on this magical day together.
