Getting Around Our Port Townsend Campus

We strive to make our campus and events as inclusive and accessible as possible for all individuals, including individuals with disabilities. To request an accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility, please contact access@nwmaritime.org, or call 360-385-3628 x137. Special access considerations for Wooden Boat Festival and other events are detailed on their websites.

Accessible Parking

We have a limited number of designated parking spots for those with disabled parking permits located off Monroe Street between Water Street and the beach near the entrance to the Welcome Center. There is also typically street parking available along Water Street in front of our buildings.

Docks and Grounds

Northwest Maritime Center grounds are flat and easily navigable by wheelchairs and other mobility devices; the ground surface is paved and decks are wood planking. Access to our docks is via sloped ramps; the angle varies depending on the height of the tide.

Elevators

There are two elevators in our buildings:

  • Our main elevator is located in the breezeway between the Chandler Education Building (yellow building) and the Weissblum Heritage Building (red building).  This elevator accesses our 2nd floor which includes our Admin offices, classrooms, and meeting rooms.  This elevator is open during business hours and during special events.
  • Our second elevator accesses select classrooms and our pilothouse simulator, and may be opened when these rooms are in use.

Restrooms

Accessible restrooms are in 3 locations on our campus:

  • In the breezeway between the coffee shop and the Boathouse on the ground floor, open during business hours.
  • On the 2nd floor of the Weissblum Heritage Building (yellow building) in the Tretter Gallery adjacent to our meeting rooms, open during business hours and special events
  • In the Keith W. McCaw Boatshop, single-stall restrooms can be accessed during Boatshop programs and special events.

Please use the restroom that best aligns with your gender identity.
