Welcome to the heart of Northwest Maritime! Our Welcome Center is the gateway to our campus and a hub of activity in our organization. Whether you’re a curious traveler or a local enthusiast, the Welcome Center is your go-to destination for learning not only about the rich maritime heritage and culture that defines our area, but also about NWM’s activities and programs across the region, and how you can get involved!

Step inside and discover exhibits catering to all ages that share the history and traditions of Port Townsend’s maritime legacy, as well as maritime culture and activities today. 

It’s also your invitation to embrace the outdoor lifestyle of the Pacific Northwest. Peruse our collection of well-curated, sustainable garments, outdoor gear, navigation essentials, and an array of sea-themed books and nautical gifts—all under one roof. Your journey into the maritime world begins here.

The new Welcome Center was funded by donations from friends of the Northwest Maritime Center, the State of Washington’s Heritage Capital Projects program administered by the Washington State Historical Society and a grant from the Maritime Washington National Heritage Area, for which NWM is a pilot project and official partner.
