Best Practices for your Visit

Best Practices for Your Visit to Northwest Maritime

These policies apply to visitors sharing Northwest Maritime’s (NWM) public access spaces, including the H.W. McCurdy Library, Tretter Gallery, Welcome Center, Velocity, Keith McCaw Boatshop, Swan office, restrooms, and outdoor portions of the NWM campus.

  1. Respect: We ask that all visitors respect each other in our shared spaces by avoiding disruptive behavior. Physical, sexual, verbal, or any other type of harassment or abuse is not allowed. NWM’s spaces are multi-purpose and may be reserved for private activities such as classes or weddings; please be respectful of spaces in use.
  2. Healthy Campus: We maintain a drug-free and smoke-free campus to keep our spaces safe and welcoming. Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere within 25 feet of doors and windows. Illegal drug use and marijuana use are not allowed, and guests who appear intoxicated may be asked to leave.
  3. Healthy Community: Please stay home if you’re sick, wear a mask as needed, and wash your hands frequently.  For the most up-to-date information on public health practices in our community, please visit the Jefferson County Public Health website.
  4. Keep Our Campus Clean: If you’re enjoying food or drinks, please clean up after yourself—there are bins located around campus.
  5. Keep An Eye on Your Kids: We welcome visitors of all ages! Children under 9 and anyone with special needs who requires a caregiver must be supervised by someone age 13 or older.
  6. Dogs Welcome: In addition to service animals, we welcome clean, dry, leashed, well-behaved, and under control dogs to accompany their owners during their visit to NWM. Please do not leave animals unattended on our campus. You are responsible for your animals’ behavior and cleaning up after them. NWM reserves the right to ask that animals leave the premises.
  7. Lost and Found: Please keep your personal items with you! Unattended items may be added to our lost and found in the Welcome Center or disposed of.

Thank you for respecting everyone’s use of NWM spaces!
