Going Slow to Go Smooth

Bravo Team numbers were small this week but not in energy or focus.  We went sailing on our longboat for the first time and enjoyed the weather and each other’s company!

A new coxswain got to practice getting us out of the harbor with one week of experience under our belt.  We did some rowing practice before setting our foresail and mizzen.  Many thanks to the sun and the beautiful October weather we’ve been having.

Unfortunately, our photos from the day have been lost so this week we share views of longboat Townshend from various angles, including one shot taken from the City Dock during a maneuvering drill near the PTSA Race mark.

Also in our photos is a copy of the Chart 18464, Port Townsend Bay.  Our Course Area usually stays north of Kala Point, West of Kilisut Harbor, and South of Point Wilson.  We are starting to learn navigation, knot-tying and sailing skills.  We look forward to sharing more with you as the year progresses!
