First thing first. Why race in WA360?
Because I’ve enjoyed paddling in long-distance, expedition-style events and this one is on my doorstep.
What’s your connection to these waters?
Surrounded by them in Vashon and have enjoyed the Seventy48 the last 3 years
Superpowers. Each crew member gets one. What are they and why?
“Just keep paddling”, although I’m going to pass on night paddling for this event unless absolutely necessary.
Defend your vessel choice for WA360. What makes it so cool and worthy?
The Kruger Sea Wind is a rock solid (but not the the fastest) expedition covered canoe. Designed by Verlen Kruger, an extraordinary expedition canoeist.
What are your adventure qualifications for WA360? What makes you (y’all) cool and capable?
I done the Watertribe Everglades Challenge (FL 270-300 miles / 8 days) and the Boundary Waters Challenge (MN 270 miles / 8 days) several times. I’ve also done some long private trips including the North Forest Canoe Trail through-paddle (740 miles), Connecticut River source-to-sea (400 miles), Little Missouri / Missouri River loop (300+ miles).
What is going to break?
Not the boat, not the mind, just maybe the body.
