The first week of July was an exciting time in longboat world. For the first time in many years, both Townshend and Bear were out on a journey together and traveling in convoy. The longboat journey was part of a 26 day science program for high school students, which is based out of Friday Harbor.

Today we had a great and challenging day on the water. We spent the afternoon practicing our rowing of the long dory Onward in preparation for our full day journey this weekend. The northwest wind gave us the chance to practice our power strokes. Visits from a harbor seal and brown pelican were exciting treats!
After what feels like too long, Bravo Team finally made it back on the water today and it was glorious. We spent the first few minutes of class finalizing some journey plans for the all day trip next week.
