VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

School Programs Volunteers Needed
Volunteers needed for a school program in June! No maritime experience needed, just good with middle school-aged students and willing to take direction and help in a classroom setting. We’ll need extra hands during STEM sessions and printmaking/art sessions. If interested, please reach out to volunteer@nwmaritime.org
Off to the Races!
SEVENTY48 begins on Friday, May 29, and Race to Alaska kicks off Saturday, June 13, with the Ruckus! There are still some volunteer shifts available for both races. If you are interested in participating in the race day fun, sign up here.
Wooden Boat Festival
Wooden Boat Festival is September 11-13 and is gearing up to be the biggest and best one yet! Volunteer shifts will be posted on July 14, and new this year, sign up early and get entered into a raffle to win some cool prizes! More details to come, but mark your calendar for July 14!

Call for Captains
We are looking for a few more Captains for Wooden Boat Festival this year, including Main Gate Greeter Captain, Festival HQ Greeter Captain, Food Court Captain, AV Stage Captains, Venue Host Captain. Being a Captain means that you are in charge of your area, directing and leading your team, and participating in some pre-festival activities like our monthly Captains meetings. If you have volunteered for Festival before and are interested in taking on one of the available Captain positions, please reach out to volunteer@nwmaritime.org.ย ย
What are your interests?
I am still working to build a short list of our most engaged volunteers and what they are interested in. Please fill out this form if you haven’t already to let me know what areas you are interested in (think school programs, poster distribution, special projectsโฆ). Then, when we are in need of volunteers in that area, I will know who to contact first!
VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION
Shout Out to our Oyster Caretaker Volunteers!

Our first oyster restoration program is a success! The oysters have been growing on campus and recently passed their medical exam. On June 10, the babies will get loaded onto a boat and dropped off in Chuckanut Bay. They will stay in their bags for protection to start, and this summer, a team will head out at low tide to cut the bags open and spread the shells, bringing our first season of oyster work to a close. Special shout-out to our volunteers and staff who worked for months to make this project a success! Thank you, Chuck, DJ, Suzanne, Shawn, David, Alice, Todd, Mark, George, Trista, Melissa, Bekah, Kevin, PJ, and Kate!ย ย
