Volunteer Bulletin – April 2026

Introducing our new Volunteer Coordinator, Lindsey Kuligowski!

Artboard 2

Originally from Westchester, NY, I moved to St. Petersburg, FL, to attend Eckerd College, majoring in Environmental Studies and minoring in Psychology, Anthropology, and Leadership Studies. After spending some time interning at wildlife rehabilitation centers, I decided to take (what was originally planned to be) a gap year and spend a season working at Copper Mountain Ski Resort in Colorado. Eight years into that gap year, I was running the 800+ bed Employee Housing program, and had never even attempted to ski.

Missing the water, I made plans to move to Port Townsend, and I couldn’t be more excited to be working at Northwest Maritime! In my spare time I enjoy exploring new Main Street towns, crafting, and reading. I look forward to a fun events season this summer and getting to know all the staff and volunteers!

Help me get to know you:

Are you a world-class volunteer that wants to make sure you are on the contact list for all the new and exciting volunteer opportunities? I want to create a short list of our most engaged volunteers and what they are interested in. Please fill out this form to let me know what areas you are interested in (think school programs, poster distribution, special projectsโ€ฆ). Then, when we are in need of volunteers in that area, I will know who to contact first!

Volunteer Opportunities

2026 Race Shifts Are Live!

Race volunteer shifts for SEVENTY48 and Race To Alaska are live! If you are interested in volunteering for either (or both!) of those races, check out the available shifts posted online. We are specifically in need of captainsโ€”so if you have volunteered in the past and/or want to take on more responsibility, consider signing up for one of the captain shifts!

Wooden Boat Festival Special Project:
Artboard 6

While we are so excited for this year’s Wooden Boat Festival (check out the newly posted art if you haven’t already), we are already looking towards the 2027 special 50th Wooden Boat Festival!

One of the exciting additions to that Festival is a book celebrating 50 years of the Wooden Boat Festival including photos, past programs, and testimonials. We are in need of some volunteers to help on that project with photo organizing and other admin-style tasks. If you are interested in getting involved with the book project, please reach out to volunteer@nwmaritime.org

Interested in Supporting Our Spring School Programs?

Volunteers will act as support for educators during onshore maritime and marine science activities on our Port Townsend campus. If interested, reach out toย volunteer@nwmaritime.org.
