We are excited to be partnering with the Port of Port Townsend this summer to provide Dock Attendants for Point Hudson! Four young people, some of whom have been students in our Port Townsend Maritime Academy program, have been working directly with Point Hudson staff since early July helping with arriving boats’ dock lines, greeting new RV campers, and being amazing ambassadors for the Port.
If you see them around campus, please take a moment to say hello! Learn a little more about this summer’s dock attendants below:
Jerome Reaux Jr.
“I’m a senior at Port Townsend High School. I’m a multi-sport athlete who does football, basketball, and track and field. My hobbies are going on walks and watching anime. I’m new to the Maritime Center, so I’m still trying to get my feet wet.”

“Hi! My name is Jacob, but people call me Jake. I am having a blast with this program that started this year, so I guess we are called the inaugural crew of 2021. The RV and boat people are so much fun to interact with and make their day by giving them bags and helping tie up their boats. If this program was going again next year, I would definitely not think twice about it, and I would jump at the opportunity. The smell of saltwater coming off of the ocean on a nice breezy day is a day you will never forget. ‘Come to work with a great attitude and you will succeed’—that’s what my father once told me, and I took it to heart.”
Elliott Erickson
“Hello! I am 16 turning 17, and I am in the 11th grade (as of next school year). This is my first employment, here at the marina. My favorite subjects at school are maritime studies, woodworking, and history. My favorite pastimes are miniature painting, hiking, snowboarding, tennis, and swimming among other things. I’ve been living in Port Townsend for the past 14 years, and I lived in Seattle and Bainbridge also for some time.”
Iris Iverson
“I will be a senior at Port Townsend High School this year. I enjoy being able to spend my time working outside with boats. I’ve done programs with the Maritime Center before. I went through the Maritime Program at PTHS and am planning on doing it again my senior year as it introduced me to career options in maritime that I hadn’t thought about before; it’s also how I heard of this job. I’m excited to work with the NWMC in the future and see where this job takes me.”
