Get to know Team JED Racing

First thing first. Why race in WA360?
We had a ton of fun in 2021, and food left over so we thought might as well race again. R2AK and WA360 have been a huge part of our growth as sailors. The human/wind powered and the run what you brung spirit of the race makes this a unique race that keeps bringing us back.

What’s your connection to these waters?
The Puget Sound is a beautiful section of water, with shifty winds and strong currents. The course of the WA360 allows

Superpowers. Each crew member gets one. What are they and why?
Jeremy- Lash anything with dyneema
Erik- Jetboil Whiz
Derek- Summon the wind( hopefully not too much)

Defend your vessel choice for WA360. What makes it so cool and worthy?
The SeaCart 30 is a high-performance, lightweight trimaran designed for fast offshore sailing and distance racing. It features a short, streamlined cabintrunk, an all-carbon construction, and an efficient, pivoting wing mast that enhances aerodynamics. The rig is powerful, with a combined upwind sail area of 720 square feet and a stability-focused, wide beam. This results in an exceptionally high Sail Area-to-Displacement ratio (SA/D 58.75), making it one of the fastest production trimarans in its class.

To manage power, the mainsail has three reef points, and careful sail reduction is necessary to avoid capsizing. Safety features include an escape hatch in the main hull.

The interior is minimalistic, featuring a raw carbon fiber finish with basic berth flats but no real amenities—optimizing weight savings for performance.

What are your adventure qualifications for WA360? What makes you (y’all) cool and capable?
We sailed the first running of WA360 and it went ok. Multiple years of training and tuning on the new boat. Petitioned the Race committee of the Socal 300 to let a “too small trimaran” sail around Cortes Bank with 3 people. They let us and we finished. 2022 Worrell 1000 4th place. 2x R2Aks one were we took your 10k left you with an inter20 beach cat.

What is going to break?
We think it could be the pedal drive. but we are bringing critical spares.
