Get to know Team Moore On
First thing first. Why race in WA360?
It pushes us to grow, it’s local, it’s adventurous, it’s wind powered.
What’s your connection to these waters?
Usually several layers of fiberglass and balsa, but sometimes bare skin. Most of us are local to the region and do buoy races out of Shilshole Bay Marina in Seattle. Racing is great – but the wildlife is better.
Superpowers. Each crew member gets one. What are they and why?
Lukas – very aerodynamic (not much hair remaining)
Kelton – somewhat aerodynamic (more hair than Lukas)
Shyah – trimming symmetrical spinnakers
Kristin – we’ll tell you when its over
Defend your vessel choice for WA360. What makes it so cool and worthy?
The moore 24 is a venerable 70s monohull sailboat that is a regular feature of races from California to Hawaii. It’s spartan on the inside, and economical to own and operate. This one has demanded some TLC in the last year which has endeared us to it.
What are your adventure qualifications for WA360? What makes you (y’all) cool and capable?
Collectively we have ocean crossings, local sailboat racing experience, endurance event experience in all climates. Good attitudes while under way.
What is going to break?
Our fan’s hearts when its over. Please not the mast.
