Explore Port Townsend from the water as you cruise around Port Townsend Bay aboard our comfortable catamaran, Admiral Jack. While our knowledgeable crew shares the history of our charming village-by-the-sea, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the seafaring wildlife that inhabits our coastal waters and indulge in views of the Olympic and Cascade mountains. Tours are one hour in length—a great summer activity for all ages!
Please purchase your ticket online in advance to ensure your spot on the tour. Walk-up availability may be limited; last-minute tickets can be purchased in the Welcome Center, located at 431 Water St, Port Townsend, if space allows. Kids age 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Are these tours accessible for people with disabilities?
Passengers with limited mobility or other disabilities are welcome aboard Admiral Jack. All passengers will need to make their way down an elevated wood pier and a sloping ramp, with up to 1:5.5 slope at low tide. Admiral Jack is accessed from a floating dock. There is a large step up from the dock to the boat, across a gap. The entry door is 27.5” wide, with a sill height of 6”. When moving about the boat, the minimum clearance is 24.5.” There is ample bench seating on board, with grab bars and other places to stabilize yourself. Crew are available for boarding assistance. We will provide written tour information for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

There is public street parking available in front of Northwest Maritime. There is also a larger public parking lot at the intersection of Monroe Street and Washington Street. There is also public parking along Monroe Street adjacent to Memorial Field.

When do I check in?
Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the start time of your tour.
What should I wear?
We recommend wearing sneakers or flat-soled shoes and comfortable clothing—layers are best! Remember, it’s usually one layer colder on the water.
Do I need to wear a life jacket?
PFDs (lifejackets) are not required aboard but are encouraged for our young guests and available for all ages on request.
What should I bring?
It’s always a good idea to bring extra layers, sunglasses, hat, water, camera, snacks as needed, and your motion sickness medicine (if needed).
Where do you cruise?
We’ll be cruising around Port Townsend Bay and Admiralty Inlet.
Can I bring food or alcohol on the boat?
No alcohol on the boat, please. Guests may bring snacks or beverages; we just ask that you clean up after yourself and use the provided trash receptacles.
What happens if it rains? Do you sail in inclement weather?
Like all prudent mariners, we make our decisions about heading out on the water based on the most current weather predictions and if we can safely operate in those conditions. Please dress for all weather conditions; Admiral Jack does have an indoor space where guests can escape the rain. If we make the call to not go out, we will offer a full refund to all guests.
Is there a restroom on Admiral Jack?
Yes, but it is small… It’s always good to use the restroom before heading out.
What ages are permitted on the boat?
All ages are welcome, as long as they can safely board the boat. USCG-approved life jackets are available upon request (size available for infants through adults).
Is smoking allowed on board?
No!
What is your cancellation policy?
- Cancellations must be received in writing (email to info@nwmaritime.org).
- Cancellations made less than 48 hours before a tour will not be refunded.
- Please give at least 5 days’ notice for cancellations of parties of 10+
- If we need to cancel an event (due to weather or other circumstances) we will offer the choice of rescheduling or receiving a full refund.
