First thing first. Why race in WA360?
Having completed the R2AK in 2023 and SEVENTY48 in 2024, it only felt natural to tackle the NWMC 1180. If successful, I believe it will be the first time anyone has done so solely by human power. I’m looking forward to the WA360 challenge, which strikes a unique balance between the 19-day scenic drudgery of R2AK and the 19-hour delirium of a nonstop sprint – blending relentless endurance with moderate hallucinations. Or, as I like to call it, Pugetory.

What’s your connection to these waters?
I have paddled a portion of these waters in the Seventy48 last year, although I recall a lot of that race was in the dark. I am hoping to see more of the coast in daylight this year.

Superpowers. Each crew member gets one. What are they and why?
I have been told I have a “good bladder,” whatever that means. Either that, or I’m perpetually dehydrated—probably both. The upshot? Fewer pit stops.

Defend your vessel choice for WA360. What makes it so cool and worthy?
I used this kayak to complete the SEVENTY48 in 2024. Considering the course doubles back on itself, it has already proven itself for about 100 of the roughly 360-mile course.

What are your adventure qualifications for WA360? What makes you (y’all) cool and capable?
I like getting out in my kayak and covering some long distances. This is another fun camping trip, except now I’m being tracked by more than just my mom. Aside from R2AK, my longest camping trip has been five nights, so I’m looking forward to finding a rhythm and enjoying the journey, however long it takes.

What is going to break?
A 15-year-old iPod that keeps me going during 12-hour paddling days. If it gives out, my sanity might be next.
