Get to know Team Snufkin
First thing first. Why race in WA360?
Straight answer: We’ve done all the other races. Twice. So we need our heads examined.
But for real: We just like doing silly things in small boats
What’s your connection to these waters?
We grew up on Puget Sound and San Juans. Then we each moved to different mountains. But the siren pull is strong so we come back to dip our top in the waters every now and then. Its keeps us fresh.
Superpowers. Each crew member gets one. What are they and why?
We are going to practice a new superpower this year–talking! Seriously, when you grow up together (we’re siblings) and have done lots of adventures together, you get in sync and don’t need to talk much. It goes like this: Stina has the tiller, George has the reef points. We know these things, no words required. Adding communication will up the complexity of all situations. We are ready for the challenge.
Defend your vessel choice for WA360. What makes it so cool and worthy?
Solveig is a beautiful cedar plank faering built for long adventures. She has voyaged down the entire Mississippi, finished R2AK twice, and messed around Salish waters plenty. After her last R2AK she began to take on airs and actually checked herself in to a local ‘boatshed’ for some significant cosmetic and racing upgrades. Now, she’s clean and fit and needs a younger, stronger more media savvy crew. But she’s got us. Again.
Stina and George felt Solveig was getting too much attention and decided to go under the radar this year. We are proud to announce Team Snufkin. -yeah, just google it or better yet go to https://www.moomin.com/en/ which-moomin-are-you/ and find out who you really are.
Solveig herself has graciously found room in her very hectic schedule to help our
fledgling team get on its feet. Her presence adds so much celebrity to the team we’ll need to keep a low profile to avoid the Solveig paparazzi.
What are your adventure qualifications for WA360? What makes you (y’all) cool and capable?

What is going to break?
Our resolve to row through the night, sail into the wind, and never ever let the boat stop moving.
