Get to know Team Hard on Port

First thing first. Why race in WA360?
As a shakedown cruise for the 2026 R2AK, after an aborted attempt in 2024 during the proving ground. And like all expeditions, for a chance to simplify our world to eat, row, sleep, repeat.

What’s your connection to these waters?
We row them on a regular basis in Sound Rowers races, in Seventy48s, and row camp trips. Connie has had several sailboats on them, Mike worked on Pier 69 on Elliot Bay in Seattle for years.

Superpowers. Each crew member gets one. What are they and why?
Mike: Mr. Fusion. Able to consume virtually any and all food items at any time and convert them into limitless rowing energy.

Connie: Oracle of Delphi (Puget Sound version). Able to look into the future to see perfect ports, coves and rest spots, and navigate to them with great precision.

Defend your vessel choice for WA360. What makes it so cool and worthy?
Mrs. Chippy is a customized CLC Team Dory, sliding seat rowing double with decks for rowing and sleeping, sealed ends for storage and buoyancy, and now with the all-important rudder addition.

What are your adventure qualifications for WA360? What makes you (y’all) cool and capable?
Loads of open water and expedition rowing in the waters of WA 360, knowing our boat like only someone who built and modified her can. Engineering brains to logic shit out, adventurer souls to convince the engineer brains to do hard boat stuff in defiance of logic.

What is going to break?
Nothing we can’t fix except the blisters on our hands, and we can tape those.
