Sunshine and Shop Time

It was sunny this week and we were excited to continue our shop projects. We got creative and set up our hand tool projects outside on the picnic tables. It was fun to be outside in the sunshine. We also had lots of interested visitors stopping by to check out our projects.

While the bench project crew was laying out and cutting their poplar boards for their tool trays, the crew in the boatshop worked on our Skunk Island Skiff. They planed and sanded gussets and sides for the mid-ship frame of the boat and ended the day gluing them up. The white bedding compound on the dark Sapele wood reminded us all of marshmallows and graham crackers. Big plans are afoot to have some creative snacks next week!

During our break time we played some amazing games of Beckon, Beckon, a tag game that uses all the nooks and crannys of our boat storage to their full advantage. Overall it was a day filled with learning new skills, enjoying the sunshine, and having fun. What more could we ask for?
