Introduction to Fishing the Pacific Northwest, Two-Part, In-Person
Attention Anglers!
Join us for an in-depth 6-hour saltwater fishing course focused on catching salmon, halibut, and crab in the Northwest, split into two 3-hour sessions. This class is designed for those fishing from their boat (or a friend’s) and covers essential tackle, techniques, and the best times and places to maximize your catch. Please note: This is not a “catch and release” or fly fishing course.
Session One will provide a comprehensive overview of the essential gear and equipment for targeting salmon, halibut, and crab, including recommended items. Weather permitting, Captain Don Dybeck will bring his cherished fishing boat to the Maritime Center for an up-close inspection and hands-on demonstration.
Session Two dives deeper into the specifics of when, where, and how to fish effectively. You’ll learn about the best baits and lures, what to pack in your boat and tackle box, and where to source the best equipment.
Led by Captain Don Dybeck, a seasoned fisherman with over 50 years of local experience, this class includes hands-on instruction, valuable tactics, and plenty of entertaining fish stories. We’ll also cover crucial boat safety tips, including a memorable lesson on what not to do. This course is perfect for beginners, but even seasoned anglers are sure to pick up new tips and tricks!
This class is in person at the Northwest Maritime campus.
