Intro to Sailing: Sailing Essentials

Our Sailing Essentials course is a comprehensive and fun three-hour introduction to the art and science of sailing, set against the picturesque backdrop of Port Townsend Bay. This hands-on experience is designed for beginners eager to dip their toes into the world of sailing and gain a basic understanding of sailing techniques, terminology, and safety protocols. Throughout the course, emphasis will be placed on creating a supportive and enjoyable learning environment, fostering a love for sailing, and providing participants with the confidence to continue their sailing journey.

The course is designed to be accessible to all fitness levels and ages, making it an ideal entry point for those curious about the world of sailing. This course can be repeated and is a great springboard into our Basic Keelboat Certification course and beyond.

2–5 PM | Cost: $99 non-member and member. Non-member price is the same as member price for this class.

  • Prerequisites: None
  • For Ages: All ages welcome. Minors need to be accompanied by an adult.
  • Platform: We teach on our Catalina 250
  • Duration: 3-hour courses that take place on Friday afternoons
  • Audience: Beginners who want to try sailing but aren’t yet ready to jump into the Basic Keelboat Certification course
  • Materials: None
