For over 40 years, 48° North has stood as the premier sailing magazine of the Pacific Northwest. In 2018, it integrated into Northwest Maritime to expand its reach, formats, and content.
Today, 48° North produces a rich monthly print magazine that is distributed for free in more than 300 locations in Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, and beyond; as well as publishing five articles per week on its well-trafficked website. From cruising and sailboat racing to small-boat adventures, paddling to powerboating, 48° North‘s focus extends across local waters, the breathtaking Inside Passage, and even to exotic international cruises—always tethered by the common denominator of the Pacific Northwest. The magazine is dedicated to capturing anything related to boats, boating, and the vibrant boat-folk of the region.
With a mission to inspire, inform, entertain, and connect the varied maritime communities around the Pacific Northwest and beyond, 48° North strives to kindle the reader’s desire for more time on the water. In addition to its editorial content, the magazine actively engages with its audience through events like the 48° North Cruising Rally and services like the Seattle Area Racing Calendar (SARC). Each represents opportunities for readers to connect and participate in the shared passion for boating that binds the community together.
