First thing first. Why race in WA360?
Usually, I am very smart about my sports but I figured it was time to go big and go dumb.

What’s your connection to these waters?
After we sold our house in N CA, we went to Whidbey Island with my 17-foot trimaran in tow. We spent a summer season wondering where the wind went at 1 o’clock. We came back the following summer, this time with a Honda 2.3. Much more fun was had even though we could paddle the 17 at two knots. I guess this is where I realized, hey, you don’t really need a motor up here! We decided it was so much fun, paddling and not paddling, that we bought a house in Sequim, and now we have three trimarans. 16′, 17′ 27′. The 27 I bought last year specifically to endure this race.

Superpowers. Each crew member gets one. What are they and why?
Tony: I never get dizzy.
Gordon: I can put you inside a soap bubble.
Jonah: Spontaneity

Defend your vessel choice for WA360. What makes it so cool and worthy?
Oh, this is really easy: a 27-foot trimaran that weighs 1100 pounds—2000 pounds lighter than the closest competitor in its class. You can cut your hand on its entries, and the stern of the vaka is as wide as my shoulders.
My crew is crying out for trapezes.

What are your adventure qualifications for WA360? What makes you (y’all) cool and capable?
Tony “Kahuna” has been Sailing since I was 18 years old. I turned 21, living aboard an 85-foot staysail schooner. I have raced solo trapeze dinghies, and dual trapeze dinghys. I raced with past winners of the Americas Cup. I sail my small trimaran in San Francisco Bay Puget Sound and other windy lakes.

What is going to break?
Course record. It will fall hard. As for Hardware, I’m not sure.
