WA360 | The Winning Begins

The first team to finish in WA360 is a bit like a second start. A moment that reminds the rest of the fleet that the finish line is out there. It’s real, and it’s waiting.

At 5:24 AM, Team Puget Sound Navigation Company danced across the Port Townsend finish line to become the first official finisher of the 2025 WA360—obliterating the 2021 course record in the process, and taking home THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BELT for The Wind Division. Sailing Incognito, their Gougeon 32 catamaran, they proved that catamarans can indeed outrun trimarans—if you know the currents, have a solid pedal drive, and refuse to sleep until the job is done.

But hey, the winning has only started.

Not long after TPSNC arrived, Team Narrows Minded came flying in claiming second place. They arrived to a cheering crowd, bleary-eyed from tracker-sleep-deprivation and the compassionate joy of a race well-sailed.

Meanwhile, hot on their heels, a clutch of other teams is expected to arrive today—definitely before you started reading this. Team Jed Racing, Team Ruf Duck, Team Lost But Don’t Care, and Team Dogsmile Adventures are all surging north, using a strong westerly in The Strait of Juan De Fuca to power a final charge. Several more teams waiting in the wings will have to contend with that westerly turning into a full Gale Warning when 6 PM hits.

And behind them? The truth of the race is that over 70 teams are still scattered across the entire length of the course, from Olympia to Point Roberts. The last of the fleet rounded the southern waypoint of Olympia Shoal around 7 PM last night. Others are contending with sneaky tide rips right where the turning mark lives just off the beach at Point Roberts.

So yeah, the winning has started. But the race? Far from over.
