Radar & Collision Avoidance & Night Navigation- In-Person

Learn to interpret the images your radar is displaying with hands-on radar exercises in our Simulator Chart Room. This class covers the basics of true and relative motion, range, and bearing, focusing on their practical applications for you and your vessel. Gain practical skills in marking targets and tracking vessels. We will utilize our state-of-the-art pilot simulator to create radar collision avoidance scenarios to practice and learn from.

This class is in person at the Northwest Maritime campus.

10 AM–1 PM | Cost: $100 non-member, $90 member

  • Prerequisites: None
  • Platform: In-person class that utilizes our state-of-the-art pilot simulator
  • Teaching style: This in-person class consists of an introductory presentation followed by practical experience in the simulator, plus interactive discussions and a Q&A session.
  • Duration: One 2.5-hour session
  • Materials: Supplementary materials and resources will be provided in class and made available online for further reading and reference.
  • Notes: Please watch for a reminder email that will be sent one week before class. This class has a four-person minimum.
