Coming together to work as a team means building some serious skills in a fun way. Today we continued to get to know each other and learn to work together. Working with partners we didn’t know well, we tried some silly tasks–like tying a shoe using one partner’s right hand and another partner’s left hand, and making up our favorite hi-five. Then we did 1 minute partner interviews and shared what we learned with the large group.

Next stop was the Bosun’s locker. With the help of his crew, our Coxswain Hunter led the packing of our gear. With his leadership we were able to cut our packing time from 28 minutes to only 12 1/2 minutes. Go Hunter!

Underway we all enjoyed the beauty of the calm, foggy day. The current was strong and setting us to the east so we practiced some power strokes! Then we made a list of things we try to do every time we are on the longboat- row, sing, snack, Moment of Silence, sail if possible. We observed some visible signs of wind (just a bit) so we decided to check sailing off that list.

Once sails were raised we enjoyed a quick snack and moment of silence (MOS). Journalist Roland broke the MOS with the quote, “Noone ever finds a life worth living. One always has to make it worth living.”

Before we knew it, it was time to head back to the dock with Connor as our bow watch. We said goodbye and good luck in the playoffs to our football players. Then we unloaded the boat and headed back to plan for next weeks adventure– our Donor Visit!

Our day ended with appreciations: Luca for his leadership on setting the foresail, the captains for being prepared, the weather, everybody for their hard work, the current, Hunter who did a great job as coxswain, relaxing, calm water, and the harbor seal for coming to visit.
