Mateys- Ahoy!

The Girls’ Boat Project is back and it’s going to be another great year! We have a mix of returning and new students this year, so it was fun to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. After a few fun games to get to know each other better, we headed down to the long dory Onward to take advantage of the nice day and get on the water.

After practicing rowing commands and skills at the dock, we headed out of Point Hudson. At first it took some concentration to stay in sync and not hit each others oars. By the end of the day, we were rowing as a crew and looking pretty good.

Some of our favorite parts of the day were being on the water, being with friends, seeing the wildlife, and eating snacks on the boat. We also developed our own special call back to get the groups’ attention– when we hear the word “Mateys!” the rest of us shout “Ahoy!”
