With the State appropriation, a total of $9.2 million in government and private funding has been raised to date. Early contributions and grants were used to purchase the property, cleanup the former brownfield site, fund the community-driven design process, and build the award-winning, environmentally sensitive dock. With design now complete, cost estimates are being calculated in preparation for going to bid for construction. Construction activity is already underway, however, at the end of Water Street. Sewer, water and other utilities are being placed underground which is the result of the port, city and Maritime Center pooling resources.
