on a Freight-Class Budget
What if you could explore the world’s waterways on your small boat? The Northwest Maritime Center, Small Craft Advisor Magazine, and Pygmy Kayaks are teaming up to unlock world cruising for the small boat set, and for our first “freight class cruise” we’re packing boats into a shipping container and heading to Ireland’s River Shannon.
Here’s How It Works
Cruise on the River Shannon
The River Shannon is Ireland’s picturesque central waterway of lakes, canals, and natural waterways connected by small, manually operated locks. Row up and operate the locks yourself, then head to the pubs, small towns, and cultural attractions that line the Shannon’s banks. Ever wanted to row to an island with a castle on it? We’ll do that too. Camp at night or stay in the lodgings in the hamlets we pass. We’ll have an itinerary, and you’re welcome to join us or go on your own. This isn’t a paint by numbers trip, but a chance to cruise in company and explore Ireland from the water.
